The 9th International Workshop of Civil Structural Health Monitoring, CSHM-9 2024, will provide a unique educational and training experience for international and local scientists, engineers, researchers and entrepreneurs to explore and discuss recent advances and the state-of-the-art, state-of-the-practice and future trends in smart sensors, wireless sensor networks, signal acquisition and processing, real-time data transferring and management for intelligent infrastructural health monitoring and to seek out opportunities for international cooperation.

Technical program

“SHM supported seismic-resilient design of Infrastructures” is the main theme of the workshop. The technical program includes keynote lectures from outstanding experts in the field, five structured sessions, poster sessions and special sessions on expert knowledge in SHM from around the word.

Within the main theme of the Workshop, papers referring to the following relevant topics are strongly encouraged:

  1. New Seismic Design Code Applications
  2. Historic Buildings Retrofitting Against Seismic
  3. State of Seismic Damage Detection/Prediction Techniques
  4. SHM in Earthquake Prone Regions
  5. Case Studies Applications (Panel discussion workshop)

The Proceedings will be published on Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering (Springer) and indexed in Scopus and WoS. Selected posters will be invited for submit full papers which will be peer reviewed and published in the Journal of Civil Structural Health Monitoring (CSHM).

More than one poster per one registration is allowed.

Poster papers: with or without oral presentation are also solicited

  • Student registration: $100.00 (early registration) – $150.00 $ (late registration) VAT included
  • Accompanying person: $100.00 $ VAT included
  • Fees include attendance to the Workshop sessions, lunches, coffee breaks, workshop dinner, social events, proceedings, one-year ISHMII
  • Participants will get a certificate of completion for attending the workshop signed by ISHMII and Kuwait Society of Engineers

Social program

Kuwait City is the economic, cultural, and political capital of the state of Kuwait. It sits on the northwestern shores of the Arabian Gulf.  Kuwait is known for its fast untouched desert and beautiful blue sea.  Kuwait City offers a memorable experience to visitors including traditional Arabian architectures and old street markets and also exclusive designer shopping malls and the famous Kuwait Towers, which are the symbol of the city.

Venue

The workshop will take place at the $10 billion newly inaugurated Kuwait University City facilities at the Shedadeya Campus. It is rated as one of the largest and most modern educational campuses in the World.

Accommodations

Accommodation will be arranged at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Kuwait City. It is about 8.5 km from the Kuwait University Campus and is less than 10 minutes away in car. KSE has a discount rate with Crown Plaza Hotel for attendees of the workshop, which will be issued upon registration.

Transportation between the hotel and KU campus will be provided for the workshop delegates.
