The Herrenbrücke crossing the river Trave was built between 1962 and 1964. A new building, a tunnel, is under construction, and will be finished 2006. The Herrenbrücke bridge should remain in service up to that time. The highways department of the city Lübeck assigned a consultant engineer for a statement, which has to assess the life cycle of the bridge up to the year 2006.
