We Welcome Your Membership and Participation.
Becoming a member of SCSHM is a straightforward process: simply select the membership category that best reflects your professional status, review the associated fee structure, and complete the online application form. Once your submission and payment are received, the Secretariat reviews the application, and upon approval, you are formally welcomed into the Society with full access to its benefits, resources, and activities.
The Society offers five categories of membership:
Fellows represent the Society’s highest class of membership. They are senior professionals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of Civil Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) through research, professional practice, or both.
Fellowship is awarded by the President upon approval by the Advisory Board. Fellows may use the designation SCSHM Fellow.
Individual Members are professionals, such as engineers, consultants, researchers, and government employees, who hold at least a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and have a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
Membership becomes active upon application and payment of the applicable dues. Members may use the designation SCSHM Member. Membership remains inactive until dues are paid.
Associate Members are individuals pursuing education or training in the field of SHM, including Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral students, as well as Engineers-in-Training (EITs), up to the age of 29.
Proof of student or EIT status is required.
Patron Members are companies, organizations, government agencies, and institutions involved in SHM that support the Society’s mission and activities.
Patron Membership may be granted by application or invitation. Patron Members receive recognition and engagement benefits that include logo placement on the Society’s website, a complimentary annual advertisement in the SCSHM Newsletter, opportunities to publish a technical article in The Monitor and present a webinar every two years, two job postings per year, participation in Society Working Groups, and discounted Individual Membership privileges for up to three designated representatives.
Honorary Members are individuals who have made exceptional lifetime contributions to the SHM profession.
Honorary Membership is awarded by the President upon approval by the Advisory Board. It is granted for life and does not require payment of dues. Honorary Members are not eligible to hold elected office within the Society. An Honorary Member may participate in Society activities and provide advice to the Society but shall not vote in Society elections or hold elected office.
