Farhad and Linda Ansari Medal and Award

SCSHM Early Career Recognition Program

The Society for Civil Structural Health Monitoring (SCSHM) is pleased to announce the launch of a prestigious new recognition initiative: the Farhad and Linda Ansari Medal and Award.

This program honors and supports two exceptional early-career researchers or professional practitioners in the field of Civil Structural Health Monitoring (CSHM). Each recipient will receive international recognition along with a $2,000 award to support participation in SCSHM conferences or workshops, where the medals will be formally presented.

General Criteria

• Nominators must be active SCSHM members.
• Awardees must hold SCSHM membership at the time of receiving the award and maintain membership thereafter.
• The $2,000 award is intended to help offset travel and participation costs for SCSHM events at which the medal is conferred.

Specific Eligibility Criteria

Nominees must:

1. Be 35 years of age or younger at the time of receiving the award.
2. Be an active SCSHM member prior to receiving the award and maintain continuous membership.
3. Demonstrate scholarly excellence and a strong professional reputation in CSHM.
4. Show significant contributions to the instrumentation and evaluation of civil structures.
5. Have published at least two peer-reviewed papers in the Journal of Civil Structural Health Monitoring (JCSHM).
6. Be actively engaged in CSHM practice in academia, public service, consulting, or industry.
7. Exhibit a strong commitment to mentorship and the development of future leaders in the field.

Nomination Process

Each nomination package must include:

1. Nominator Letter

The letter should address:

• Scholarly excellence and professional reputation
• Active engagement in CSHM practice
• Commitment to mentorship
• Technical contributions, including work in:

o    Instrumentation

o    Structural evaluation

o    Digital innovation (e.g., IoT, web-based monitoring, real-time analytics)

2. Curriculum Vitae

• Detailed CV including date of birth

3. Letters of Support

• Three (3) additional detailed letters of recommendation from active SCSHM members

• Submit the complete nomination package as a single PDF document

• Only one nomination per email

Deadline for submissions: August 14, 2026

The SCSHM Administrative Centre will verify eligibility, including membership status. Applicants will be contacted if further information is required.
