A major issue concerning all cemeteries across Canada is the rapid deterioration of the markers and of the reinforced concrete beams supporting these markers. The reinforced concrete beams are subject to extreme temperature fluctuation causing freeze-thaw cycles and the corrosion of the steel rebar inside of the concrete. To address the persistent problem of the deterioration of markers and rebars, ISIS Canada took on the project of coming up with an innovative way to fix this. The Veterans Affairs Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is part of an ongoing research program to suggest improvements in this regard.
